“Introductions” is one of the most daunting quests in Stardew Valley when you’re just starting out. Where can you find 28 people to greet, and how long will that take? Luckily, we’re here to help!
How do Quests Work?
There are many quests in Stardew Valley, and “Introductions” is one of the first. To access your full list of quests at any time, press the “F” key on your keyboard, or find the Journal manually by looking at the top right of your screen.
In your journal, you’ll find all of your currently available quests, as well as information on how to complete them. Once you’ve completed a quest, you’ll be directed to open the journal once more and accept your reward.
Introductions Quest
This quest will be available to you as soon as day one begins. The quest tag says:
It would be a nice gesture to introduce yourself around town. Some people might be anxious to meet the new farmer.

Additionally, you will be able to see that it’s required for you to greet exactly 28 villagers. How do you know which villagers you haven’t spoken to yet? You can find that out by navigating to your character’s social menu, as seen below:
You can only see the names of the villagers you’ve already greeted. The fifth character from the top in that screenshot doesn’t have a name attributed to them. That’s because we haven’t spoken to George yet. You have a list of all of the 28 villagers you have to greet in the social tab, so you can easily tell which villagers you still need to talk to.
To greet a villager, simply approach them and press right-click to say hello! Once you’ve done that, they’ll appear in the social tab, name and all.
How To Greet Everyone
1. Method One: Slow and Steady
If you’re not in any rush to complete the quest, you can just play the game at your leisure and talk to people as you see them. If you spend any time in Pelican Town at all – be it to purchase Seeds from Pierre or a new Fishing Rod from Willy – you’re bound to eventually run into most of the villagers in town.
2. Method Two: Visit the Stardrop Saloon in the Evenings
You can find the Stardrop Saloon in the middle of Pelican Town, just a little way south of Pierre’s General Store. It opens at noon, and you can find Gus there once it’s open. Later, Pam, Emily, and Shane will stop by. Other villagers visit the Saloon at different times and days, but the Saloon is generally full of people by evening time, regardless of the day.
The busiest night in the Saloon is Friday night. Head on over there around 07:00 PM and you’ll find a great number of villagers reveling and having drinks. Greet everyone here and progress Introductions with ease!
3. Method Three: The Egg Festival
The Egg Festival is the first of many Festivals present in Stardew Valley. During Festivals, nearly all villagers will gather in one place and you’ll have an easy time finding them and speaking to them.
During the Egg Festival, in particular, you’ll be able to speak to 27 of the 28 villagers needed to complete the Introductions quest. This is the most efficient way to meet everyone, but it does require you to wait until day 13 of Spring to complete the quest.
The two villagers you can’t talk to during the Festival are Pierre and the Wizard. Pierre will be behind his shop stand, and you won’t be able to speak to him because there’s no way to stand next to him. The Wizard is simply not present. After the Festival concludes, or before the Festival during any of the other days, you can speak to Pierre at his General Store in the middle of Pelican Town.
Can’t Find Someone?
There are a few villagers that are more elusive and difficult to find than others. Here is how you can find those secluded individuals and complete Introductions in no time at all:
1. The Wizard
The Wizard is probably the most elusive figure in Pelican Town. He very rarely leaves his Wizard’s Tower in the Cindersap Forest. But, even if you visit him there, the door will be locked until a certain point in the game.
To reach this point, you first need to wait until the 5th of Spring Year 1, and enter Pelican Town between 08:00 AM and 01:00 PM when it’s not raining outside. You’ll be greeted with a cutscene of yourself and Mayor Lewis standing in front of the run-down Community Center in Pelican Town. He will bemoan the fact that it’s gotten so dilapidated and then walk you inside. There, you’ll see something magical – a Junimo.
Lewis doesn’t see the Junimo, and dismisses the noise as rats. But you can return to the Community Center after this cutscene and investigate. In one of the rooms, you’ll find a glowing square with the symbol of a tree on it. Interact with it, and you’ll get this pop-up:
This is where the Wizard finally comes in. He’s the only person in Stardew Valley who is gifted with the art of magic. The Wizard will send you a letter the next morning and invite you to visit him in the Cindersap Forest. There, you can finally meet the Wizard!
The letter also includes directions to his tower. But, if you’re having trouble, we’ve got your back. Enter the Cindersap Forest from Pelican Town, down by the house of Jodi, Sam, and Vincent. Once you’ve entered the Forest, head west until you reach the shore of the forest lake. You’ll need to now circle above the lake to reach the opposite shore. From here, you’ll be able to see the hillside the Wizard’s Tower is built into.
It’s technically not necessary to meet the Wizard to complete Introductions. He is one of 29 villagers you can meet in Spring Year 1, and you only need 28.
2. Shopkeepers (Clint, Robin, Pierre, Gus, Willy)
Sometimes people have trouble greeting Clint, Robin, Pierre, Gus, and Willy. You’ve definitely used their shops before, but they still aren’t in your social tab – why not? It’s because interacting with their shops doesn’t count as greeting them. To greet a villager, you need to specifically click on them. Most of the shopkeepers can be spoken to even while at work, but you need to circle their counters and stand next to them.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that Willy cannot be spoken to on Day 1, as he is on a fishing trip. From Day 2 onwards, you can find him in his shop at the docks.
3. Elliott
This handsome bachelor moved to Pelican Town to experience true solitude, and dedicate himself to writing. True to this, he very rarely leaves his shack on the beach, which can make it difficult to meet him. Worse still, when it’s raining, he doesn’t leave his home at all. However, there are a few small windows during which you can find him and say hello, so let’s take a look at his Spring schedule:
Regular Schedule
Elliott will leave his cabin at 12:00 PM to stand on the beach just a little way south of his house, before returning to his cabin by 01:30 PM.
Later, Elliott will go to Pelican Town and stand on the bridge, just north of the entrance to the beach. He will be there between 03:00 PM and 06:00 PM, before returning to home for the night.
Thursdays
Between 11:30 AM and 05:30 PM, you can find Elliott shopping at Pierre’s General Store. He will also be here on Friday if the player has 6+ hearts of friendship with Leah.
Fridays and Sundays
Elliott will be outside of his home for the better part of these two days. At 12:00 PM he will stand on the docks next to Willy’s shop until 05:00 PM.
After 05:00 PM, Elliott will head on over to the Stardrop Saloon, and stay there until 11:40 PM.
4. Leah
Like Elliott, Leah is devoted to her craft, and she chose to move to Pelican Town for the peace and quiet. Due to this, she will rarely leave the Cindersap Forest, and if you don’t spend much time there, you might miss her and have difficulty completing Introductions. Here is her Spring schedule:
Regular Schedule
Leah will leave her cottage at 12:00 PM and walk to the edge of the river, southwest of her home.
At 03:00 PM, she will head over to the pier on the northern side of the forest lake and draw.
At 06:30 PM, she will walk to the west side of the forest lake. After this, she will walk back home.
Mondays
On Mondays, Leah will visit Pierre’s General store at 11:00 AM, and go home at 05:00 PM. She won’t leave the house again after that.
Rainy Days, Fridays, Saturdays
During these days, she will not leave her home until 04:00 PM. At that time, she heads over to the Stardrop Saloon and goes home again at 11:40 PM.
5. Sebastian
Sebastian is a bit of a homebody like Leah and Elliott, so it might be tough for you to find the right opportunity to speak to him outside of his room. Here is Sebastian’s Spring schedule:
Regular Schedule
Sebastian will be in the kitchen of Robin and Demetrius’ house between 03:00 PM and 03:30 PM. Before, and after that, he is in his room, and you can’t speak to him.
Later, between 06:30 PM and 07:30 PM, he will be by the lake near his house smoking.
Rainy Days
Rainy days are the best times to catch Sebastian outside. There are two different rainy day schedules for Sebastian, and he will randomly do one or the other.
In the first variation, Sebastian will go to the beach at 10:30 AM and wlak home only at 05:00 PM. You can find him at the end on the docks – not the ones that Willy’s Fish Shop is on.
In the second variation, Sebastian will visit the Stardrop Saloon at 03:00 PM, and head home at 09:10 PM.
Fridays
On Fridays, Sebastian will visit the Stardrop Saloon to hang out with Sam at 03:00 PM and head home at 09:10 PM.
Saturdays
Finally, you can also find Sebastian outside on Saturday. He will be hanging out with Sam outside of Haley and Emily’s house at 10:30 PM, then visit Sam’s room at 12:30 PM. He won’t be available until 06:00 PM when the two exit the house again and hang out in front of Sam’s house. He goes home at 07:30 PM.
